Louise Flory
Counsellor MBACP Accred
I provide a down to earth space for adults and young people to sort through the messy stuff—from childhood trauma, sexual abuse and adoption, to issues such as bereavement, low self-esteem, and the impact of neurodiversity including ADHD and autism. Whether you show up with a cynical sense of humour and colourful language, or an incapacitating silence that needs time and patience, you are in safe, experienced hands. We’ll work together to find out why you feel the way you do, so you can achieve your therapy goals.
In addition to my private practice, I have spent over twenty years working for various voluntary organisations. This has equipped me with the versatility to assist people and families from all walks of life as they navigate a broad spectrum of psychological challenges.
Some of my specialisms include;
Bereavement – I spent 10 years managing bereavement services in the voluntary sector which has given me extensive experience and expertise in that area. I also supervised bereaved parents facilitating peer support groups for 5 years.
Children and Young People – I have extensive experience of working with young people with emotional wellbeing support needs and their parents. This has included 7 years working as a counsellor in a secondary school and 5 years in a primary school.
SEN – I have worked with many children and young people diagnosed with ADHD and autism amongst other neurodiversities. I also have personal experience of SEN as a mother. This has given me a first hand insight into the logistical and financial challenges families face when supporting a child with additional needs.
Adoption – So often early trauma is expressed as ADHD symptoms, I am trained in Adoption Counselling and can give you the support you need to be the best parent you can be and hopefully rediscover some of the joy of parenting if it has been lost along the way.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My insights are gained not only from my initial psychodynamic training and extensive Continuous Professional Development (including Barnado’s Certificate in Adoption Support Counselling 2023 and Shape of Grief’s Level Three Advanced Certificate in Grief and Loss 2025) but through the thousands of people I have supported over the years.
