Dr Theresa Taylor

Hello, I’m Theresa, an HCPC registered clinical psychologist. Many of my clients have managed well for years before suddenly feeling overwhelmed; others have been struggling for a long time and are ready for something different. Sometimes the solutions we well-meaningly reach for keep us stuck, and we need a safe space to think and feel, and a new perspective to help us light the path forward. I’ll always treat you with the utmost respect, while being curious about what new ideas and ways of being we could uncover. I believe in being professional, human and genuine, and my clients find that there’s space for both tears and laughter in my therapy room

I’m a Doctor in Clinical Psychology with experience across the NHS and private practice. I specialise in supporting those in high stress careers and work with trauma, stress, burnout, grief, anxiety and depression. I also support people with the challenges of life including professional or personal relationship difficulties, life changes and illness. Therapy can also help with self-discovery and finding your way to your authentic self.

My level of training means I am confident to support complex, longstanding difficulties (e.g. CPTSD, chronic pain, bipolar and psychosis). I believe something meaningful can be achieved in a short time when we pick a particular focus and am comfortable helping those who want short term therapy. I use evidence-based therapies including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Systemic Therapy. I work cross-culturally with all genders, LGBTQIA+ people, non-monogamous and international clients.

We’ll begin therapy with an assessment of your goals, history, and context. From there, therapy is tailored to your needs: EMDR to process distressing memories, CFT to build self-compassion, ACT to reconnect with your values, or a blend that fits your situation. Our work will be adapted to you and paced to what feels right. I welcome feedback and will regularly check in about whether our work is helping you and review our progress towards your goals.

If any of this resonates, please do reach out — I offer a free 15-minute introductory call and would love to connect. Whether you’re in crisis or simply curious about whether therapy might help, I provide a warm, brave and safe space to make sense of things and find a way forward together.
