Dr Alyssa Alegre

I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with experience of working in the NHS and in the charity sector. I have had the privilege of working with people across different life stages – children, young people, adults and families – each navigating their own unique experiences, challenges and hopes for change. Coming from a diverse background, I also have a deep appreciation for how culture, community and context can shape our experiences and how we understand the world, and I strive to offer a therapy space that is inclusive, curious, and respectful of difference.

I am particularly drawn to working in an integrative way. My therapeutic approach draws on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy. I use ideas from these therapies as a way to respect and build on people’s strengths and values, especially when life feels confusing, stuck or overwhelming.

I work with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, self-criticism, and trauma. I have also worked alongside young people who are neurodiverse, supporting both them and their families in navigating how neurodiversity may relate to their mental health. I approach neurodiversity from a strengths-based perspective, whilst also recognising the emotional toll that may come with feeling misunderstood. I also have a particular interest in working with individuals living with long-term physical health conditions. These experiences often involve ongoing uncertainty, loss, or change, which can deeply affect a person’s sense of identity, independence, and relationships. Therapy can offer a space to acknowledge the emotional weight of managing a health condition and to explore ways of coping that honour both the physical and psychological demands involved.

Whether you are facing a specific challenge, or simply feel stuck or disconnected, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect and reconnect with what matters most. I aim to create a calm, compassionate and collaborative space where you feel heard and understood.
